A man is driving down a road after work to visit his mother that he hasn't seen in 5 years. He becomes frustrated for he has forgotten where she stays, so he pulls over on the side of the road and asks the next person he sees, which happens to be a man around his mother's age. He or nobody in his whole family or group of friends has ever met this man before in their lives, but when he asks him where he can find her, the old man gives him perfect directions. How is this possible?

Some outlandish idea like he is the guy's mother, just after a sex-change operation, could be what you're looking for, but I'm going to support the theory of him being the postman/milkman or similar

Maybe
His mum is dead.  This guy was the undertaker or clergyman who conducted the funeral.  None of the family came and so never met him.  But it was only the day before so he remembers the burial site.

Or
The son knows the address - just not the directions.  They guy knows the area well and can give directions.

Or
The bloke who is stopped whips out his internet enabled mobile phone.  Uses a directory site to get the address, and a route finder site to give directions.
