OK turtler, I’ve been starring at your puzzle for several minnows and can’t think of how to phrase it either. I asked my friend Gill, but he’s kinda hard of herring, so no luck. I’m gonna take some aspirins ... all this has given me a big haddock.

I think I got the answer, but is that part about all in mail never clinking just a red herring.

As for a thread title:
Think about using the beginning of the riddle itself (at least for the What-am-Is), like "Alive without breath".
If you modify the title of the first post in a thread, it will also change the thread title.

If I’m not mistaken, Gollum said, “clad in mail never clinking” =>mail (noun) flexible armor composed of small overlapping metal rings or loops of chain.
No, I did not do that on porpoise. Now don't be shellfish and admit you knew it. My sole intention was to clarify this point.

OK so u know where i got it lol. Could be diferent version of the book i read. Dunno but it still the same riddle. I have enjoyed many of these responces... They are rather funny to someone that knows the answer.
