Everything. -There are things besides God; and everything necessarily includes God, so it must be greater. -There is evil besides the devil; so everything must contain more evil, and thus be more evil. -Obviously the rich want everything. -And if you eat everything, you'll die, because a lot of things are poisonous; not to mention your stomach can only hold so much before rupturing. Ok, that still leaves the poor. The poor can't have nothing, because then they have nobody. And nobody has everything, so by transitivity the poor would have everything. So clearly the poor must have something. But everything is something, so the poor must have everything.

One of these days I am going to go through the archives and count how many times this riddle has been posted. It got be more than 10, and I suspect more than 20.

Yeah, the forum really ought to have an autodetection system for often repeated puzzles.

If you know the answer has been posted more than once I believe you said possibly 20 times, then why continue to show your ignorance with that stupid ass answer

You have much to learn if you think towr's answer is showing ignorance! Even if I had never heard of him before, I would have realized he also knew the intended answer from the one he gave. And the one he gave is insightful in its own right, not stupid.

really Towr Rene's got a point your really not making alot of points with you wisdom I've read it three time and it really is stupid, perhaps you should explain it in a way a two year old might understand it and then you might figure out what it is your trying to say

I really don't see what you need to have explained. Everything makes perfect nonsense. "If a dog is an animal, and a cat is an animal, then a dog is a cat". It's a perfectly invalid rule of logic all too many people employ. It goes right a long with "if I'm shot then I die, thus, if I'm not shot I don't die" (never mind heart attacks and whatnot). 'Everything' is a perfectly valid answer to the puzzle if we overlook the poor for a moment. Because I couldn't find a logical reason for the why the poor have everything, I made an obviously illogical argument. I'm just tired of going with 'nothing' for the gazillionth time; the opposite is a much greater challenge. And if you think taking on a challenge is stupid, well, so be it.

You are not making sense. The answer to the puzzle is nothing. NOTHING. Not the ridiculous ass answer you gave. That's why we have the poor because people, like you, overlook the fact that the poor have nothing. In fact the poor have the most important thing of all humanity. All you are doing is playing on words trying to sound smart. But in fact you are coming off as stupid. Your challenge, should you chose to accept it, define your damn brain. Are you on meds or was you in Special Education

The goal of a puzzle is not to 'know the answer'. Having knowledge doesn't require a brain. The internet is full of that kind of knowledge. You could have just as easily googled for the answer. The point of puzzles is to excersize your brain. It's not about scoring points, or sounding smart, it's about thinking different; or even just thinking will do. It's just a shame you don't want to consider the faint possibility another view on things might make sense. That's the real reason nothing much ever changes in this world. Everyone sticks with what they know and think is right.

As a matter of fact I am in Special Education. So I have alot of patience, only difference is that everyone in here still have their training wheels and are smarter than the Towr. They knew the answer to the riddle without help, and Towr as far as I can tell doesn't know what he is talking about. Because he just gave a bull crap play on words answer to cover in intellectual inability to understand the concept of NOTHING is greater than God.

Towr understands just fine; he just doesn't want to admit it. This is probably the single most often asked riddle on these forums, and very nearly everyone here--and certainly everyone with their five stars and rank of uberpuzzler--has seen or heard it many times before. So to liven up the old riddle a bit, towr is playing mind games with us--intentionally giving another answer and using "questionable" logic to justify it. Yep, it's mostly BS, but it provoked a discussion, didn't it--Where's the harm in that? --SMQ

| I've admitted it several times in this thread alone. As for the questionable logic. 'Everything' works fine for everything but the poor. So only there might some faulty logic necessary. (Frankly I was hoping someone could find a more fitting justification). What I don't get is why certain people have to throw around insults, and yet somehow seem convinced they're smarter and more mature for it.

I guess the answer is time. God contains 3 letters while time has four. time is more evil than devil . Poor people do have lots of time while rich don't. If you eat up all your time ,you will die...

| Actually, that answer makes a lot of sense. Except 'greater' in that sense doesn't necessarily mean more letters in the word.

STOP POSTING THIS RIDDLE OVER AND OVER AGAIN! But would someone explain why is it that the rich want nothing? I mean, if I were rich, I sure as hell would not want nothing. I would want Mercedes, private jet, sailboat, submarine, miss universe and miss of the world.

| <cheap philosophy> Then you are rich with money. When you are truly rich you are rich with wisdom and you don't need all these things. </cheap philosophy>
