Combining scientific research, training, and public education, the UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics (BCSP) is a new interdisciplinary initiative to explore the psychological and biological effects of psychedelic compounds as well as their spiritual and cultural roles. The BCSP will: 1) Investigate short- and long-term effects of psychedelics on human cognition, perception, and emotion; 2) Assist in the training of practitioners to support the use of these medicines in culturally appropriate, spiritually significant, and medically safe ways; and 3) Offer authoritative, evidence-based, and culturally inclusive journalism about the field through a public education initiative housed at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.

We are committed to the principle of open science in our work with psychedelics.
