I don't have a lot of atheist contacts here and I remember that many of the members of CalLib are atheists and perhaps motivated about it, so I thought I might as well as here. The Evangelical Formosan Church is holding an introductory meeting at which it appears that a lot of proselytizing will take place. I found out about this through a flier which makes the "Lord, Liar, or Lunatic" claim (that Jesus must have been one of those three) and invites everyone to come hear more about who he is. So I'm hoping right now to protest this meeting and to give out some atheist literature there, including a rebuttal of the "Lord, Liar, or Lunatic" argument. I wonder if anyone else is interesting in joining me. I also have some periodic fantasies of forming a "UCB Evangelical Atheist Society" at some point, which would be far more low-key than the evangelical religious groups around here but which would try to provide a presence to counter the religious feeling and proselytizing that goes on. -- Seth David Schoen L&S '01 (undeclared) / schoen@uclink4.berkeley.edu Magna dis immortalibus habenda est atque huic ipsi Iovi Statori, antiquissimo custodi huius urbis, gratia, quod hanc tam taetram, tam horribilem tamque infestam rei publicae pestem totiens iam effugimus. -- Cicero, in Catilinam I
