UC Berkeley's Music Wellness Club

Music. Service. Wellness.

Harnessing the therapeutic power of music to uplift the communities that need it most.

We bring together students who share a love of music and a commitment to giving back — creating a welcoming space for connection, creative expression, and the healing power of music.

About Us

We believe music belongs to everyone — and that sharing it is one of the most meaningful things we can do.

Heartstrings at Berkeley brings live music to hospital patients, retirement home residents, and community members who could use a little brightness in their day. We also create a warm, low-pressure space for students to keep playing, find musical friends, and express themselves — whatever that looks like for you.

Research shows music can ease anxiety, spark long-lost memories, and lift spirits — even for those who can no longer find the words.

The science behind what we do

Music

A space to keep playing, find musical friends, and form casual ensembles. All levels welcome — from seasoned performers to those who just love to play.

Service

We bring live music to retirement homes, hospitals, and community events — showing up with our instruments and leaving with real connections.

Wellness

Music eases anxiety, sparks memories, and lifts spirits. We believe sharing it is one of the most meaningful things we can do — and we love exploring the science behind why.
