Groundwater Quality

Groundwater quality varies region to region. Surface water quality varies because of erosion, runoff, pollution, plant matter, animal waste, and other possible contaminants. Pore spaces in aquifer naturally purify the groundwater, work like coffee filter which traps sediments and other particles.

However, this process doesn’t ensures that groundwater can not be contaminated. Quality also depends on geology, climate and land use. Many naturally occurring chemicals in groundwater come from dissolving rocks, soil, and decaying plant material. In most cases it comes from human activities, they increases the concentration of salts, minerals and nitrates in water. It gets impacted by concentrations of pesticides, nutrients, heavy metals, gasoline additives, and other chemicals are rising or falling.
