What is VEX U @ Berkeley?

We are a robotics club at U.C. Berkeley that competes in VEX U competitions at both the regional and international level. Each year, we are presented with a challenge from VEX and we build two robots from scratch to compete against other robots. This entails CADing parts, running FEA simulations,  utilizing computer vision, and even creating a custom AI. Innovation for these challenges pushes our skills to the limit requiring more than what is taught in the classroom.

What can you get out of it?

Being a part of a competitive engineering team is a great hands on experience in multiple disciplines. Even if you don’t know anything about robotics, you’ll learn a significant amount after a year on the team regardless of whether it’s mechanical design with SolidWorks, artificial intelligence with Python and OpenCV, or business management. In addition to learning new skills, you can travel with us around the state meeting new people and making new friends.
