We traveled from the land of Winter-Winter to that of Summer-Winter. The epic saga begins on this page.

We don our jackets even within SFO, airport in the land of Winter-Winter. Once in Buenos Aires, Argentina, whose climate is the reverse of Northern Hemisphere weather, the jackets came off, and a smile crept on.

Ushuaia, the "Southernmost City of the World" and our last port before Antarctica.

A shot just as we entered the Drake Passage, which I began to know as the "Dreaked Drake." For me, the swells weren't swell.
Sooty Shearwater roam the Drake Passage, which I glimpsed during a breath of fresh air for my sea-sickness. With our ice-strengthened hull, the captain could take us through ice floes up to 3 m thick.
One of our first tastes of land and glimpses of the packed penguin rookeries. Another glimpse at the fowl density, which was anything but foul.
