Each of our stops tended to emphasize either wildlife or historical sites. Here are a few shots of the historical and the cold that made them historic.

Out for the count. Dr. Penguin pays a visit.

There's warmth in loyalty.
Looks like fog, but it's actually a plastic bag that we used to protect our cameras. The remains of a lava-strewn, yet frozen land.

Our bridge from ship to land and back again.
Chilly waters pose no barrier to penguin insulation. Human insulation prefers the addition of ship walls and a diesel-powered internal heating system.
"Thermal" springs that turned out to be little warmer than the waters of the infamous "Antarctic Plunge," a dive into the southernmost ocean. Snow and ice don't have to get in the way of a BBQ.
