History
The Introduction to Leadership DeCal is the longest running special interest business course at UC Berkeley. Fall 2011 will be our twentieth consecutive semester. The course's founder, Haas alumnus Christopher Zobrist, noticed the dearth of opportunities for students to build their leadership skills in an academic setting. He took it upon himself to create a course that would provide students with the best tools and resources to build their leadership skills with: themselves.

Course
Today, our students are encouraged to develop their own leadership skills through dynamic discussions and interactive, team-building exercises. We also go over Harvard Business Review case studies and have guest speakers to give students the opportunity to learn from individuals who have displayed leadership in their professional careers.

Jimmy Woodard
Head Facilitator

Jimmy Woodard is a third year legal studies major. In his free time he enjoys working out, playing sports, reading, and having fun in any way possible with friends. He is heavily involved with his fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha and plans to pursue a career as a lawyer upon graduating from Cal.

Ellie Hom
Facilitator

Ellie is a third year Intended Business Administration and Public Health Double Major. She is a member of Delta Sigma Pi, a business fraternity on campus, and currently interns at a start-up company in San Francisco. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her friends, trying new restaurants, and watching Broadway musicals.

Allison Lam
Facilitator

Allison is a third year business administration major at the Haas School of Business and is a member of Sigma Kappa. In her free time she likes playing basketball, dancing, watching Glee, and traveling.

Bryan Marks
Facilitator

Bryan is a fourth year Interdisciplinary Studies major with a focus in Public Health and Global Poverty. He plans to attend medical school upon graduating from Cal and is currently a member of Sigma Mu Delta, a professional pre-medical fraternity . In his free time he enjoys working out, playing basketball, and playing guitar.

Josh Curtis
Josh graduated as a Political Science major. In his free time, he loves hiking, nature, learning, staying fit, eating healthy, and performing endless internet research. He was involved with Remedy Music Project and Alpha Gamma Omega fraternity.

James Zheng
James graduated as an Integrative Biology major. He was the President of the Pi Alpha Phi fraternity and was previously the Academic Achievements Officer on the Interfraternity Council and a University Health Services Health Worker. In his free time he loves to maintain a balanced lifestyle through exercise, learning, and meeting new people.

Simran Chaudhry
Simran graduated as an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science major, and taught from Fall 2008 to Fall 2010. She was also a member of Eta Kappa Nu, an EECS honor society, and the External Vice President of Berkeley Consulting, a student-run consulting organization.

Mike Okinczyc
Michael graduated as an International Relations and Trade major with a minor in Spanish Linguistics. He was the president of "The Sage Mentorship Project" and recently created the "Golden Cubs Foundation." He is also a former two-time national champion with the Cal Water Polo team.

Rebecca Liu
Rebecca graduated as an Economics major at UC Berkeley. She loves art, dancing, and always enjoys learning new things.

Arbi Vartan
Arbi graduated in 2009 with a major in Organizational Psychology. He currently works as a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton supporting the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Washington, DC. Arbi also serves on the Capital Gateway Program Advisory Committee for the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).

Jared Mazzanti
Jared was a facilitator from Spring 2007 - Fall 2009. He is a Political Economy major and will graduate in July 2010. He will be pursuing a career in international relations.

Jen Yang
Jen graduated with a degree in Undergraduate Business Administration, and is currently working at Goldman Sachs.

Milan Agrawal
Milan graduated with a degree in Undergraduate Business Administration, and is currently working at L.E.K. Consulting.
