Ghibli Museum

entranceGhibli Museum is located in Mitaka, a western suburb of Tokyo, which features different Japanese anime works of Studio Ghibli. The museum is creatively designed to give visitors a chance of exploring this wonderland as well as returning to their childhood innocence. Throughout the museum, you will find different characters’ exhibits. Most of the interior designs resemble the actual setting from many of the Ghibli Studio productions. The first floor of the museum is an exhibit room displaying the history and science of Ghibli production. On the second floor, there is a mock-up of the Ghibli Studio showing many behind-the-scene works, such as the finished storyboards, sketches, background painting and drawing in lines of all their films. On the third floor of the museum, there is a giant and furry catbus sitting languidly on the floor while children can freely release their energy by romping around the play area. On the other side of catbus the third floor, there is a bookstore and gift shop selling art books and Japanese-translated classics. Inside the museum, there is also a mini theater showing a few short Ghibli short films. On the top of the museum, there is a garden filled with plants and a giant robot from Laputa: Castle In the Sky. The museum has became one of the most popular visitor spots in Japan as its tickets are sold out months before on weekends and traveling seasons.
