Find a word that follows the first word in the clue and precedes the second, in each case making a new word or phrase:
 
1) split (     ) game
2) yellow (     ) stand
3) dinner (    ) politics
4) fencing (     ) tissue
5) reproduction (     ) van

I'm unsure if (2) was the answer you were looking for, and I'm stuck on (5).

Yes. Also, Yellowhead is a county in Canada. Google finds  a surprising number of hits for both yellowhead and "yellow head".
