My interests generally lay in the realm of stereotyping and prejudice. Specifically, my research program examines the impact of prejudice on both the stigmatizer and the stigmatized as a function of individual differences. Among the personality variables that may affect how the self reacts to prejudice are one's vulnerability to stereotypes, and more broadly, one's lay theories about the nature and immutability of group differences and inequality. Individual differences on such personality variables may then help explain some of the intergroup differences on self-esteem, emotional reactions, psychological wellness, and behavioral outcomes.
