 Annual Sigma Scholarship

Ellas recognize April as the month of education where we work hard to distribute applications for our annual scholarship to Chicana/Latina women in high school. Our aim is to help them in their journey to higher education.

To help us raise our scholarship funds please contact us.

Kindercaminata

This event is hosted by the Raza Community at UC Berkeley. Kindergardeners come from all over the bay area and tour the campus. We volunteer at the event by helping with the activities and all the organizations put together a carnival with game booths for the kids. This year, Sigma put together a booth where the kids were able to win a gold fish.

Toy and Canned Food Drives

Sigma is devoted to annual toy and canned food drives to better the lives of needy families in our communities. We believe in helping others by any means necessary including providing clothing, resources and smiles to those who need it the most. All toys are donated to the Bay Area Rescue Mission in Richmond.

Bahia Health Fair

The Bahia health fair is put on in the city of Berkeley to educate the latino community about health issues that affect them. Our Sisters helped put together a face painting booth for the kids who were there.

Breast Cancer Walk

Every year our goal is to raise and donate funds as a chapter to the annual breast cancer walk which takes place in the San Francisco golden gate national park. In the month of October you may see sisters selling pink ribbons in an effort to reach our donating goal. If you would like to sponsor our team, please email anyone on our contact list for further instructions.

The annual Breast cancer walk is not the only event that we participate in, Sisters have also walked for different causes such as: Crohns and Colitis, AIDS, Guts and Glory, or individual sisters take it upon themselves to donate to a variety of causes.

Political and Social Action

Sisters are always involved in political events that affect the Chicano/Latino community including rallies, fundraisers and campaigns. We feel it is necessary to take action and voice the needs of our community by participating in political affairs.
