In its thirty-five year history, Clio’s Scroll has published over thirty volumes. Crucial to each volume has been the work of the journal’s editorial staff. Undergraduates (especially sophomores) with a demonstrated interest in cultivating an academic community among students of history are welcome to apply. Students with strong writing and analytical skills, as well as research and editing experience, are especially encouraged to apply.

Applicants must fill out this application form here by 11:59 pm on February 19, 2024. to have their application considered. In this form, you will be asked to include:

  • A list of all lower- and upper-division History classes taken at UC Berkeley and Community College (no AP courses). Please format accordingly: History #: Course Title (Instructor Last Name), School. E.g.: History 103: The Craft of History (Shagan), UC Berkeley
  • A writing sample of no less than five and no more than fifteen pages. Your writing sample should showcase your familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style as well as your ability to analyze and synthesize different source materials.
  • A curriculum vitae or resume. If you have any past editing or research experience, please highlight pertinent information here.

Membership in Clio’s Scroll is limited to undergraduates at the University of California, Berkeley. The journal strongly encourages as many sophomores and transfer juniors from the Department of History and with any areas of specialization to consider applying. The journal is committed to a diverse and inclusive board.
