Fellow Cohorts

Cohort 5: 2021-2022

Riss Myung (she/her/hers)

Riss is a fellow at Asian Health Services Youth Program.

Riss Myung, a senior at UC Berkeley studying Public Health and Global Poverty & Practice, is a wannabe poet, extreme cat lover, and voracious reader. During her last year at Cal, she’s interning with AHSYP to learn more about sexual reproductive health (SRH) and further her skills in the health education field. She is excited to facilitate workshops for high school youth and create a collective anthology that highlights the experiences of Asian American femmes navigating SRH (keep your eyes peeled for the request for submissions). When Riss isn’t fighting writer’s block or heating up packs of ramen, she’s writing lyrics, learning tutting, and checking her google calendar.

Christopher Nakatsuka (he/him)

Christopher is a fellow at Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach.

Hello! My name is Christopher Nakatsuka (he/him) and I am a 2021-2022 MOVE Fellow for Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach. APILO is a pro bono social justice law firm that serves the API and other marginalized communities in the Bay Area and aims to provide legal representation and social services that are culturally competent and linguistically appropriate for the most marginalized of the community. I’m working with APILO’s Youth Advisory Council which works to educate and address gender-based and dating violence in API youth communities. I’m excited to engage with the community, learn more about APILO’s work, and grow in my political advocacy know-how.

Shirlyn Rhee (she/her/hers)

Hello! My name is Shirlyn and I am a 2021-2022 MOVE fellow for AYPAL. AYPAL works to empower Oakland’s low-income API immigrant and refugee families to be leaders for school reform and neighborhood change through leadership development, arts activism, community organizing, and more. I support AYPAL by working on photo archiving, finance, and volunteering for events that AYPAL hosts. I feel strongly about working for other members of the AAPI community. I am very excited to explore and learn ways to be socially proactive and knowledgeable and to incorporate my professional/academic interests into my fellowship.

Currently, I’m knee-deep in building sisterhood and designing SAUCE, an intergenerational community healing and nutrition program at Banteay Srei.
