Joyce’s Graduation

Went to Joyce’s graduation this Saturday, May 12th. Jenny and Yeh stayed at my place. I didn’t have any furniture in my condo so I felt kind of bad. Joyce lent me her air mattress and sleeping bag to use.

Exploding Fish

I microwaved some raw salmon today, and it exploded. Before, it had always been fine, so I don’t know what was different today.

Lost My Bike

Lost my ’07 Giant Yukon bike yesterday in Belltown while I was working out because I forgot to lock it. I’m pretty bummed right now.

One Night in SF

I went to Berkeley to say “hello” to Ernst, Alan Waxman, and Nick Green. They are at MLK and Francisco St. Nick’s sister, Kaitlin, and her roommates live there. Then we went to SF for Elbo Room, on Sycamore St. and Valencia St. It is a club. Ernst and Alan were pros and they danced with a couple of beautiful ladies. I danced, too, but I ended up with nobody, I believe it is because I cannot dance. It doesn’t seem like Nick’s place, either.

Afterwards, we went to a taqueria. There were many people, and I saw a couple of acquantances from Berkeley. I only remembered that the name of the girl is Lahini. Then, we went back to Berkeley and I went back to Moraga.

Después, volvimos a Berkeley, y volví a Moraga.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Saw Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in Westwood today! He was just walking around on Broxton. I passed him while going to my interview with a really tiny startup that was just getting started. The startup made me write a checkers game from scratch. I did it in two hours, but I guess it wasn’t good enough, so I didn’t get an offer. Anyways, I was so shocked that I didn’t even take a picture. I was asking other people around me whether or not that was Kareem, and they were like, yea. I think his daughter goes to UCLA or something. Still, this is like the first time I have ever seen anyone famous around UCLA.

Fire Alarm

I got woken up by a fire alarm while sleeping in the CS lounge today. I think it was around 9am. I’m not going to lie, I was pretty annoyed by this. I only got a slight warning before the full alarm hit. Basically, here I was, half-sleeping in the CS lounge (couldn’t really sleep because of the hard couches in there), and I heard the fire alarm from outside the hall. For some reason, the alarm took a couple of seconds before it started ringing inside the CS lounge. So when it did, I was somewhat prepared and quickly put my hands up to my ears to cover them up. Sure enough, it was the fire alarm, and the previously dark room was flashing the intermittent bright lights characteristic of fire alarms. That’s just obnoxious. Why would there be a fire alarm at 9am on a spring break Thursday? As if my sleep needs to be any lower quality. On that note, I think I’ll switch back to sleeping in the EGSA lounge, even though it still has some smell of construction left, since the CS lounge sofas are just not good for sleeping. Perhaps it is also caused by the fact that the CS lounge has no blankets to keep me warm. I really dislike this smell in the EGSA lounge, though. Perhaps it came from the construction they are doing for the TA room next door to the EGSA lounge. The other advantage is that I don’t think there are any fire alarms inside the EGSA lounge.
