I know a lot of people have written about a food tour in Tainan, and everyone certainly has their own list of what makes it to #1 in their list, one thing we can all agree on is that we all enjoy good Tainanese food, so here’s my version of a Tainan Food Tour.

Start your day at this corner of the YongLe Market 永樂市場. This traditional market is the location of our first 4 stops. If you are interested in temples, on the opposite side of this market, you will also find the tsuí-sian-kiong 水仙宮 (Water God Temple).

At this location, we’re going to get lǔn-piánn 潤餅, uánn-kué 碗粿, kuah-pau 割包, and ô-teh 蚵咧. We are going to an older district in the center of Tainan, where besides these restaurants you’ll find a busy and narrow street that is typical of Tainan street design.

Our first stop will be Kim-Tik-Lǔn-Piánn 金得春捲 where we will get some lǔn-piánn. The lǔn-piánn is a food item that looks similar to a Mexican burrito, but it is only similar in looks. The skin is much thinner (but somehow doesn’t break until you bite into it), and you might be surprised that aside from the usual meats and vegetables, they also put a liberal amount of sugar in it.

Nextdoor, you will find our next restaurant, Pù-Sīng-Hō-Uánn-Kué 富盛號碗粿, you can also find a good bowl of hî-kenn 魚羹 here. Uánn-kué is a gelatonous and savory cake made from rice, known for being a good representation of Q. What is Q, you might ask? Q (khiū) 𩚨 is the Taiwanese ideal of food being simultaneously soft and bouncy at the same time, not too soft so that we lose the texture, and not too hard that it loses its chewiness. Hî-kenn is a bowl of creamy soup made with a technique called velveting with fish paste in it. The fish in Tainan is very fresh as it is one of the biggest producers of sat-ba̍k-hî 虱目魚.

Then cross the street to the other side to A-Tshîng-Kuah-Pau 阿松割包 to get some kuah-pau, also spelled as gua bao, sometimes erroneously called bao buns (erroneously because bao already means bun so bao bun would be bun bun). This item has become popular in the US recently and consists of a piece of fatty pork in a bread sliced open in the middle. The fatty pork might be too heavy by itself but the bread balances it out very nicely. There’s also an abundance of cilantro and crushed peanuts in this Taiwanese classic. On the same side of the street, you’ll also see Tshun-Ô-Te 春蚵嗲, to get some ô-te. This is a fried breaded ball with oyesters in it.

There used to be a good stir-fried store around here called A-Thih-Tshá-Siān-hî 阿鐵炒鱔魚 but it has since been closed down. Tshá-siān-hî is a type of stir-fried eel dish common in Tainan, there are many others around, and maybe someday I’ll find another one that I’d like to recommend.

Well, after I had blocked youtube and a bunch of other sites, my productivity seems to have stabilized a bit.

Productivity seems to have dropped a little bit this week, possibly due to the lol tournament that was going on.

Again productivity had stayed lower, but this was possibly because I wasn’t working as much this week to offset the productivity pulse.

We’ll see next week, I think I’m on the right track!

Wow, looks like I really slacked off here on updating. Above is the 2017 q4 stats. Looks like I’m still spending about 25% of my time on entertainment stuff, can definitely work on reducing that.

Let’s look at 2018 q1

Hmm, looks like I was slightly less productive here. The huge chunk of grey neutral time is due to the switch from Chrome to Firefox. I think I may have to install an add-on to get firefox website tracking to work properly.

Let’s take a look at how I did for the month of April. Looks like my productivity pulse has gone down a little bit, so have to work harder on that. I think I had been spending some time to look at more random youtube sites this month as compared to previous months.

Let’s see how I have been doing this week.

Well, looks like I’ve picked up the slack some, but still have to figure out how to get firefox to report the time properly, otherwise, I always get a big chunk of time spent on “utilities”

Ayer fui a morfire con auliuia. Dijimos de la responsibilidad de la secretaría y qué necesita hacer. Ella debe anunciar todos los eventos públicos y privados en todos las canales. Necesitamos unirnos más para que puedo enseñar cómo hacer estas cosas.

Let’s see what I did yesterday. It looks like I have a reduced workload yesterday, but on the other hand, I only spent 10% of my time on Entertainment. Hope to get more stuff done today.

Ayer tuvimos la reunión de la junta. Necesitamos reunirnos en el lugar en virginia porque no pude usar mi cosa esta vez. Dijimos a mucha cosa ayer, dijimos de la festival de la cinema que vancouver tiene. Creo que hay una oportunidad buena para colaborar con ellos para la festival. También discutimos de la bbq, sucesión, y el t-shirt. Usamos mucho tiempo en dibujar y escoger de las opciones del t-shirt para obtener el mejor precio. Pero finalmente vamos a tener t-shirt para la convención y el correo en septiembre. Voy a tener una reunión con auliuia esta noche para discutir la responsabilidad de una secretaria. Ojalá que es un éxito como la reunión de la junta.

Hello, let’s see what happened the past few days.

Looks like I got a bit unproductive on Monday. Look at all that time spent looking at stuff past midnight on Sunday night.

Let’s see what happened during Father’s Day. I did a good amount of work this day. I went home to eat dinner since Dad was here. I cooked some salmon and some pork stew.

Looks like I fell into the trap again of looking at stuff after midnight.

I guess my conclusion is that maybe I should put my phone away after midnight, though sometimes I’m actually doing productive work. Well, let’s see what happens in the next couple of days.

Este més he hablado con kiat-hu . Hablábamos comportamiento de acaparamiento de todas las comidas, y porque no queremos tener este comportamiento en osutheng. Tuvimos este reunión con khalin. Creo que él comprendió que estuve hablando. Vamos a ver la situación en osutheng. Si no mejorar, tenemos soltar a él.

Después de hablando a kiat-hu, hablé con an-tek. Dije a él que no puede desaparecido en el futuro. Si no, no puede ser un oficial de la organización. Él dijo que no hay razón para la desaparecido. Quiere crear un evento este mes asi que podemos ver el resuelto.
