This may be unusual for a diet plan: go find something to do. There are many possibilities. I personally recommend video games; that is what worked for me. World of Warcraft is a good candidate. I play Warcraft III (DotA) myself. The trick is to find something addictively fun, and at the same time does not burn a lot of physical energy. So playing a sport or working out, while I definitely encourage to supplmeent the Mod Diet, will not satisfy this part of the plan, since you probably can't play sports for more than a couple hours. MMORPGs are great because they are a huge time sink, don't take a lot of energy to play, and at the same time there's the side benefit of possibly meeting new people (if you're into that kind of thing). Don't be afraid to shell out $15 a month for a WoW subscription; it's fun (or so I hear) and more importantly, you will quite possibly make that back in savings as a result of being on the Mod Diet.
If you're not into video games, there are plenty of other possibilities. How about taking a fun class at a local college? Tuition at community colleges are usually cheap; I tried this and paid $26 per unit. A four-unit semester will cost just a little over $100 over three months, and if you're working full-time that's about the max you can probably handle. Or you can volunteer in your community. How about tutoring? The key is to pick something that you enjoy doing AND will be a huge time sink for you. |
